Beatles Fundraiser a HUGE success!

Saturday, February 2, 2013 saw the most successful Rotary Fundraiser of recent years as nearly 300 people danced the night away at the Richmond Hill City Center to one of the best Beatles tribute bands in the world.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill, to raise money for local and international charities, this amazing evening recreated the glory days of the Beatles and the 1960s. The City Center was transformed into the famous Liverpool Cavern where the Beatles famously began their career and the talented tribute band, “Britishmania” flew in from New Jersey to perform. The band and most of the audience dressed in authentic 1960s clothing and the evening was introduced by English resident, Roy Barber who knew the Beatles in the early days in Liverpool.

Larry Barker, the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill’s President Elect and the inspiration behind the fundraiser, said “This wonderful experience exceeded our hopes. Everybody in the community pulled together to become sponsors, buy tickets and donate items for our auctions. We are proud to have raised over $17,000 for local and international charities as this means we can continue to give to international Rotary initiatives such as the `Eradication of Polio’ and `Alzheimer’s Research’. For me to be able to give back to our community is very important and our success last weekend means that we will be able to keep making donations to various funds including the YMCA, Senior Citizens, Helen’s Haven, the Matthew Freeman Project, the School Principal’s Funds and the United Way of the Coastal Empire as well as maintain vital educational sponsorships for Richmond Hill’s High School students.”
